Passionate Desires

Many years ago, a passion to be “One with God” rose up inside of me.

This was my prayer night after night for decades. It was my prayer although I really had no idea what it meant. It was an inchoate yearning for something that at some deep level I intuited already existed within, waiting to flower. This passion has led me for decades and continues to lead me now.

There is a part of me that judges this intention as being grandiose and pompous. I feel vulnerable when I share it out loud. Those remnants of programs of being flawed or undeserving are persistent. While I still cannot comprehend what being One with God means, this passionate intention has served as a beacon for Grace, and by acting on the opportunities that were called in, I grew. I feel more at one with myself, and I suspect that is the road toward my original intention of being consciously one with the One. I couldn’t have orchestrated such a great school as the one that Life conspired to offer out of its unfathomable Love.

The passion that I held in my heart of hearts always energized me, and frequently, it led me into unanticipated action. Grace carries with it an intelligence that is beyond my program-ridden mind. Through the support of passion, I developed the persistence, discipline, and perseverance which have gotten me through the rough times.

When our intentions are sourced in the heart rather than in the mind, in love rather than fear, Grace is evoked. The Universe responds to our passionate desires. When we put in effort to actualize these intentions, personal growth is the natural outcome. Such intentions are naturally mutually beneficial to the whole of humanity. They reflect our piece of the collective puzzle that serves humanity. Passionate living is to live a life in collaboration with Grace. Such living not only impacts our life, but it also cascades out to impact those around us. We become living demonstrations of the quality of living life as compared to merely existing.

As Deepak Chopra explains, “An intention is a directed impulse of consciousness that carries the seed form of that which you aim to create.” Our intentions arise out of our inner passion. Effort must be made to plant the seed of intention in the limitless field of consciousness, and, also, through our actions, out into the physical world. As above, so below. Grace then brings about the perfect conditions and resources to nurture this seed. We must then let go and let the One handle the details.
